Mexican Black Kingsnake

Lampropeltis getula nigrita

The mainland Mexico variety of getulus.  The "Poor man's Indigo snake."  Heavy bodied shiny black.  The "best" ones are pure black with no traces of yellow spots.  Some actually look like "splendida" with a mottled looking pattern.  All of mine are solid black and most of the babies carry that.  As with all my getulus subspecies, these regularly double clutch. Great pet, easy to maintain.

Other animals in the L. getula group:

Albino California Kingsnake (L. g. californiae)
Heterozygous California Kingsnake (L. g. californiae)
Normal California Kingsnake (L. g. californiae)
Apalachicola Kingsnake (L. g. goini)
